The Drummer's Gig Checklist

Pick the kind of show, tick off your gear, and don't leave the snare in the garage again. Tick the last box and it's time to rock. 🤘

Every drummer has done it once — rolled up to the venue and realized the kick pedal is still by the front door. This interactive packing list has your back for every kind of gig: a breakables-only night on a backline kit (just cymbals, snare, pedal, sticks and IEMs), a full-kit bar show, a festival fly date, a studio session, or a rehearsal. Pick a show type below and your checklist appears — your progress is saved in this browser, so you can start packing and pick up right where you left off.

Step 1 — What kind of show?

Drummer packing questions

What does a drummer need to bring to a gig?

It depends on the show. On a backline or house kit you bring your breakables — snare drum, cymbals — hats, crashes, ride, kick pedal, hi-hat clutch + felts & sleeves — plus sticks, a drum key and your in-ears. For your own full-kit show you bring the shells, hardware, cymbals and rug as well. The checklist above covers five show types.

What are drummer breakables?

Breakables are the parts of the kit a drummer brings even when a backline kit is provided: snare drum, cymbals — hats, crashes, ride, kick pedal, hi-hat clutch + felts & sleeves. They're the pieces that are personal to your setup or that wear out, so venues and backline companies expect you to supply them.

What should a drummer pack for a festival or fly date?

Travel light and bring what makes a shared backline feel like yours: snare drum, cymbals in a padded bag, pedals — kick + hi-hat, drumsticks + spares. Changeovers are fast and stage times are tight, so pack so you can be set up in minutes.

Is this drum gig checklist free?

Yes — it's free, needs no account and runs entirely in your browser. Your ticked boxes are saved on your own device so you can start packing and come back to the list later.
